Today we look at some techno news
A big shift occured in the South African Network services last month. For the first time ever a Mobile Network provider could hold its own with regard to Latency against traditional network powerhouses ADSL or in this case VDSL.
When tested Vodacom LTE came in 3rd best with a round trip ping of 31ms (milliseconds) compared to Telkom 20ms VDSL (20Mbps) and Afrihost 24ms VDSL (40Mbps). A few years ago this would have been seen as impossible and it begs the very exciting question of whats next ?

Just a brief explaination about Latency
It reality Latency should maybe be called delay as it explains the meaning of the term much beter , simply put latency is the amount of time it takes for a single packet of data to get from one point to another , Latency is measured in Milliseconds and are influenced by many factors such as Transmission ie line speed and type like fibre vs copper , propagation which is the speed a packet travels from one point to another and off course your network devices such as router and PC network card.
If any of these are configured worng then you will have a slow network regardless of a fast line or good propergation. Always remember that you network is only as fast as your slowest point.
